Frequently asked questions

What brands of boiler do you install?

We are a Grant specialist company. When installing boilers, we tend to use Grant Vortex as we believe they are the best oil-fired boilers on the market.

Can you service and maintain any type of boiler?

We specialise only in oil fired boilers. However, we can maintain and service many different types of oil boilers. Please contact us to find out more information about this.

How long does it take to install a boiler?

Depending on the work associated with the installation, it can take from 2 days to 4 days. We offer free estimates, so please contact us to get your free estimate booked in.

Are you on the OFTEC website?
We are an OFTEC registered company, and our engineers are all OFTEC registered. This means that our installers carry out their work in accordance with building regulations and approved industry standards, and they can self-certify that their installations comply with the regulations without needing to submit a building control notice. Also, as our heating engineer is OFTEC registered, it means that our services follow a set of procedures that ensure that all aspects of your heating system are checked and maintained in accordance with industry and manufacturer standards.
Are your heating engineers fully qualified?
Our engineers are all well qualified.
What should I do if my heating has stopped working?
Firstly, check if there are any lights displayed on the boiler; if there isn’t then this means the boiler is not receiving any power. If there are lights on your boiler, check if you have oil in your tank and check if you have hot water, also turn your thermostat right up. If you have hot water then press the reset button on the boiler a couple of times and wait at least 30 mins. If these tips haven’t resolved the problem, or if you have neither heating nor hot water, please contact us.
What does a boiler service include?
A full boiler service includes inspecting all components, cleaning and adjusting parts as needed, as well as replacing the burner nozzle. Finally, a test run is to ensure everything is working correctly.
What should I do if my radiators aren’t working?
If your radiators are warm at the bottom but cold at the top, this typically means that there is air trapped in the system and you should bleed the radiators to release the trapped air. If it is only one of your radiators that is stone cold, then please contact us.
What should I do if my heating system loses pressure?
There is no harm in the system losing a little bit of pressure here and there as it is heating, cooling, expanding etc. If this is the case top up the system via the filling valve: please refer to your specified boiler manual to find the filling valve as all boilers are different. However, if the pressure suddenly drops drastically or is constantly dropping, it will most likely be a leak in the system and in this case please contact us.
